Wine Oasis

In the northern region of the province are two easily distinguishable wine oasis: the North Oasis and Oasis East.

Northern Mendoza is a suitable area for the production of fruity whites and young reds, the Eastern region being the area with the greatest production. Two districts make up Primera Zona: Maipu and Lujan de Cuyo. The wine produced in the industrial, traditional and ‘boutique’ wineries located in this region are world famous.

Along the Eastern Oasis stretches Valle Central, a 640-750 meter-high plain that is washed by Tunuyan river waters and comprises cultivated areas of the districts of Junin, Rivadavia, San Martin, and Santa Rosa. This large oasis is Mendoza’s most productive one, as a wide range of grape varieties are planted there. The wineries there, located 50 km far from the city, are focusing on the production of premium wine (even though, the Roads of Wine tours there are still being developed).
